Cosgrove Care recently launched a new fundraising appeal for 2021 to ensure that the charity can continue to provide support across the local communities it works within. Cosgrove’s Community Appeal is a campaign that will allow the charity to provide support and assistance to those in need in the community during the current pandemic, but will ensure that long term, sustainable support is available beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, as it has done for the past 60 years.
With its tagline “Always here for our Communities – before, during and after COVID-19”, Cosgrove Community Appeal will enable the charity to provide effective and direct assistance to those that need it most, whether this is through direct support needs, supporting independent living or through helping the wider community through our volunteering initiatives.
Children’s Services activities such as Cosgrove’s adapted Play Scheme have enabled the children that we support and their families to retain a sense of continuity over the challenging past year – parents Steven and Michelle said –
The Cosgrove Play Scheme has been a lifeline for our family, especially after the challenges of lockdown. Our daughter Carla absolutely loves going and enjoys the experiences it opens to her. It is a vital service that gives her the opportunity to explore and experience new adventures. The staff are outstanding in their care to children with complex additional needs. This year it has meant a happy summer holiday, as you can see by the smile on her face. Thank you, Cosgrove Care.
In 2020, Cosgrove also achieved an unprecedented level of support in the local community, utilising volunteering support to assist people in vulnerable situations because of the pandemic.
One household that Cosgrove has supported while they were shielding mentioned that –
Cosgrove has been a literal lifeline while we have been shielding and I don’t know how we would have coped without them.
Cosgrove CEO Heather Gray said of the Community Appeal –
While we are all trying to adapt to the ever-changing situation that COVID-19 has created, there are still children, adults, older people and families that rely on Cosgrove’s support and assistance on an ongoing basis. Approximately 50% of our fundraising income traditionally comes from fundraising and events, many of which have now been postponed or cancelled. Supporting the Cosgrove Community Appeal will ensure that we are still able to deliver the highest possible levels of support, services and assistance in your local communities and make the necessary changes to keep everyone safe.
