Cosgrove Care hosted a fantastic night of swing music recently and raised £6000 for the charity through its sell-out performance at Eastwood Park Theatre.
The evening was sponsored by Debra and David Clapham in memory of Dr Harry Clapham who was a consultant psychiatrist who served on the medical committee for the forerunner organisation of Cosgrove Care. The concert was also attended by Cosgrove Care patrons, David, and Carole Walton.
Music was performed by the 14-piece Scottish big band- That Swing Sensation with memorable numbers from Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Nina Simone and more.
Cosgrove Care, Co-Chair, Dr Donny Lyons paid tribute to the pioneering work of Dr Harry Clapham and thanked Richard Kaye, who has helped organize 14 tribute concerts for Cosgrove Care over many years, raising well over £30k for the charity.
Heather Gray, Chief Executive of Cosgrove Care said,
We are very grateful to Debra and David Clapham for their generous support of our Swing Concert and to Richard Kaye for organizing the event and for taking some great photographs on the night. It was great to see so many people enjoy the fantastic sounds of That Swing Sensation, and our fabulous volunteers worked hard to make the night a resounding success.
There has never been a more important time for Cosgrove Care to raise funds to deliver vital supports and services to some of the most vulnerable children, adults and older adults in our communities. There is an increase in the numbers of young people with a dual diagnosis of learning disability and autism and our support helps people thrive, achieve, and connect. Cosgrove plays a vital role campaigning for equal rights for disabled people and provides vital community supports at a time when services are under real threat.
The event would not have been possible without the hard work of Sharon Kaye, Finance and Fundraising Officer and Pinky Monaghan, Fundraising Officer from Cosgrove Care who worked exceptionally hard to make the event a success. Thanks also to Susan McAneney and Lauren Jarvis, Cosgrove team members.
Cosgrove Care was able to invite some Ukrainian friends to the concert and those attending really enjoyed the music.
David and Carole Walton, our patrons were happy to attend the event which they described as ‘marvelous’ and wished ongoing success to the charity to all those who work so hard for Cosgrove Care.
